How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter sale price and COGS. Type the listing's sale price and your cost of goods sold per unit. For digital downloads, enter $0 for COGS.
  2. Add ad spend, revenue, and orders. Open your Etsy Ads dashboard and copy the last 30 days of ad spend, revenue from ads, and number of orders into Section 1.
  3. Read the verdict. The calculator shows actual ROAS, break-even ROAS, net profit per sale, and a verdict telling you whether to scale, optimize, or pause.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good ROAS for Etsy Ads?

A good ROAS depends on your margins. For digital products with no COGS, break-even is around 1.1x. For physical products with 50% COGS plus Etsy fees, break-even is often 2.5x to 3x. A "good" ROAS is at least 20% above your break-even ROAS, which gives you real profit after factoring in volatility and returns.

How do I calculate break-even ROAS for Etsy Ads?

Break-even ROAS = sale price ÷ net profit per sale before ads. Net profit before ads = sale price − COGS − Etsy fees (listing fee, transaction fee, payment processing). When your actual ROAS equals break-even ROAS, your ad spend exactly equals the profit your ads generated, so you net zero.

Why am I losing money on Etsy Ads even with good ROAS?

Etsy's dashboard shows ROAS as revenue ÷ ad spend, which ignores your COGS and Etsy fees. A 2x ROAS sounds healthy but if your COGS plus fees consume 60% of revenue, you are still losing money on every ad-driven sale. Always calculate break-even ROAS first.

Should I scale or pause an Etsy Ads campaign?

Scale when actual ROAS is at least 20% above break-even ROAS over a meaningful sample (30+ orders). Pause or optimize when actual ROAS is below break-even. Between break-even and 20% above, the listing is marginal and is usually a conversion or pricing problem, not an ad problem.

How does this calculator handle Etsy fees?

We use the standard US Etsy fee structure: $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee, and 3% + $0.25 payment processing fee. Offsite Ads fees are excluded since those apply only when Etsy drives the sale, not when you run your own Etsy Ads.

What price should I charge to be profitable on Etsy Ads?

Use the Reverse Pricing Calculator above. Enter your COGS, average CPC, and conversion rate from the Etsy Ads dashboard, plus your target net margin. The calculator solves for the minimum sale price that hits your target margin after ads and Etsy fees.

Is this calculator free?

Yes, completely free with no signup. Calculations run in your browser; no data is stored or sent anywhere. The site is supported by ads and affiliate links to seller tools.
